Private Smith Mountain Lake Beaches
Even though Smith Mountain Lake has over 550 miles of shoreline to explore, access to private Smith Mountain Lake beaches are extremely rare. However, if you have your heart set on booking a vacation rental with a private beach, then you’ll be happy to know that a select number of our properties include this option as an amenity. Public Smith Mountain Lake Beaches
Spanning 1,148 acres, the Smith Mountain Lake State Park includes much more than a public beach. This location boasts plenty of things to do in Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, including on-site boat rentals, a boat ramp, fishing pier, hiking and biking trails, and picnic shelters. Additionally, the park also has the distinction of housing the largest public beach on Smith Mountain Lake. You’ll also find a visitor’s center, a nature center, and an amphitheater that hosts live music on a seasonal basis, making Smith Mountain Lake State Park an ideal place to plan a beach day followed by an afternoon or evening of fun. Smith Mountain Lake State Park is located on the North Shore of Smith Mountain Lake in Bedford County.
The public beach at Smith Mountain Lake Community Park, a smaller public park located in Franklin County, provides guests with walking trails, covered picnic shelters, playground areas, and handicap accessible fishing pier with seating. The public beach is $2 per person (children under 3 are free.) The hours of availability for this public beach vary by season, with limited availability after Labor Day. The beach is generally open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day each year.
