Smith Mountain Lake Farm is an alpaca farm in Hardy that specializes in raising alpacas and making products from their wool. They offer tours on which you can learn about the animals, feed them, and see how their unique alpaca products are made.
Johnson’s Orchards is situated in Bedford. At this family-owned and operated orchard, you’ll also find Peak of Otters Winery on-site. The historic farm is known for its crabapples, pears, peaches, blackberries, and raspberries.
A Goode View Alpaca Farm is yet another alpaca farm in the Smith Mountain Lake area, located in Goode. Here, alpacas are raised, sold, boarded, and bred. Additionally, Maremmas, or Italian Herd Dogs, are also bred on-site. The farm sells alpaca goods and gifts as well.
Buffy’s Blueberries, previously known as TLC Orchards, is based out of Moneta. As you can guess from the name of this facility, blueberries are the popular crop here. However, you and your guests can also pick blackberries. The orchard is also known for growing their produce without using pesticides. Group picking sessions are available as long as your group will pick a minimum of twenty pounds, at a price of $4.00 per pound. You can also have berries picked for you at a price of $6.00 per pound.
Scott’s Strawberry Farm in Bedford County allows visitors to pick strawberries. The farm also hosts the annual Strawberry Festival, which draws thousands of visitors to the area for country fair style amusements and attractions.

We have four acres of blueberries with 12 varieties. The earliest berries are usually the large variety and depending on the weather the season can last until the last week of September. There are also blackberries in the field which are ripe in July. The berries are $4 per pound if you pick them and $6 per pound if we pick. If you want the berries picked for you please call a few days before you want to pick them up. Harvey is our resident Emu and we also have laying chickens on the farm and eggs are available all year. Call in advance for eggs. The fresh eggs are $4 per dozen. Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and other veggies are available during the summer season. We look forward to seeing you at the farm.

This farm has 200-plus acres with over 7,000 apple trees of 200 different varieties. Several hundred peach, nectarine, and damson trees, as well as pumpkins in the fall, are also available. Facilities include modern restrooms, a log cabin, a pavilion for picnicking with a 15-foot Johnny Appleseed, a replica of an old store that houses a restored 1939 Chevrolet and a 1979 F-150 Ford, and many trails in the orchard for walking.
