Peaks of Otter Winery

When it comes to fermenting the perfect wine, people usually think of places like California or Italy, but one of the truly hidden gem of wine making is the great state of Virginia. With a long history and tradition of phenomenal wine making, the Virginia wine country has been thriving for centuries, and there are few that truly know how to do it better than Peaks of Otter Winery, especially when it comes to wine from fruit.

A Mostly-Fruit Winery Steeped in Tradition and Excellence

First built in 1941 by Elmo Johnson, Bedford’s country’s oldest winery and VA’s first all fruit winery, occupied a space of just 180 square feet, but boy have they grown since! Now up to approximately 2,000 square feet, Peaks of Otter Winery in Bedford, VA produces about 3,500 to 4,500 cases of wine per year, which includes 30 different varieties, many of which are made of fruit— their personal specialty. This shows that not only do they know how to make our wine, but they also know how to make it well. We guarantee that Peak of Otter wine is of top notch quality and some of the best wine you’ll find in all of Virginia.
