Compete in the Blue Ridge Marathon

Sign up for the 2018 Blue Ridge Marathon! Race day takes place on April 21 this year, so be sure to book your home with Premier Vacation Rentals soon.

This marathon is referred to as “America’s Toughest Road Marathon,” as it challenges its runners with over 7,430 feet in elevation changes. That’s more than any other road marathon in the United States! The race follows the Blue Ridge Parkway in VA, and all the proceeds go toward a non-profit which protects the parkway (Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway), as well as local charities.

The races include a full marathon, a half-marathon, a 10K, as well as races to run with a partner. After the race, the participants are all given a unique finisher’s medal, a commemorative t-shirt, and local craft beer. The fun begins and ends in downtown Roanoke!

Down by Downtown Music Festival

The Blue Ridge Marathon isn’t just about the challenge of the run or benefiting local charities. It’s also about bringing together locals and visitors to the area. Nowhere is this more apparent than with the Down by Downtown Music Festival. This three-day event showcases music acts from all over the country.

The festival begins on Thursday, April 19. There will be performances taking place at 12 venues in downtown Roanoke. On Friday, April 20, there will be a free concert in the evening at the Elmwood Park Amphitheater. Finally, on Saturday, watch the concert’s headliner perform after the race has concluded.
