If you want to get the best view of our beautiful lake during your trek, visit the Smith Mountain Lake State Park. The park features 13 hiking trails which range from half a mile to three miles long. The paths lead through the park’s various features, like hardwood and pine forests, secluded coves, and picturesque vistas. And, of course, many of the trails follow the lake’s edge, giving hikers the best view of the serene, blue waters of our most stunning feature. Catch your dinner while you’re visiting! There are plenty of places in the park for shore and boat fishing. The trail is a little over four miles long and gradually climbs 1,700 feet to McAfee Knob, which is a peak of 3,197 feet. In total, the hike is a little less than nine miles and will take around four hours to complete. Since this is so popular, we suggest you try to go on a weekday for a little more privacy.
