Upcoming Winter Events in the SML Area

If you are thinking about buying a home at Smith Mountain Lake but are worried about things to do in the winter months look no further. Think about renting a home during the holiday season to see how magical winter can be at Smith Mountain Lake. You will quickly see that we have events most weekends and many workshops during the week. Here are some of the upcoming events for this season:

Christmas around Bridgewater

This is an ongoing event the kids are sure to enjoy. Santa will arrive by boat at 1:00 p.m. and will be available for pictures until 4 p.m. on November 26th, 2016, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th. This event will take place at Bridgewater Plaza (16430 Booker T. Washington Hwy, Moneta)

Deco Mesh Wreath Workshop

Southern Roots will be holding this workshop on November 29th, 2016 from 3 – 5 p.m. The cost is $45 and includes all supplies to make a beautiful wreath customized to fit your home décor. Contact 540-814-0604 to reserve your space.

Come Home to a Franklin County Christmas

This will be the 13th annual Come Home to a Franklin County Christmas. This events will be held on December 2nd, 2016 starting at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Rocky Mount. It begins with the “Biggest Little Parade” and also features live music, food vendors, and horse-drawn carriage rides.

Downtown Moneta Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting

Don’t miss the 5th Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting in downtown Moneta! Put on by the Moneta Fire Department on December 2nd, 2016 from 6 – 10 p.m.

An Old Virginia Christmas of 1856

This will be a candle light tour of Booker T Washington National Monument focused on the Christmas of 1856.

Franklin County Christmas Parade

This parade will be held on the streets of Downtown Rocky Mount on December 4th, 2016 starting at 3 p.m. Get out a little early and find a good spot.

Smith Mountain Lake Chocolate Festival

This 2 day event will take place on December 10th and 11th, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will be a 1.5 mile walking loop where you can sample chocolate and baked goods. There will also be an option to park your car and ride a shuttle. Cost for this event is $15 at the gate or $10 in advance.  Westlake merchants have decorated their shops to get you in the holiday spirit.
