Christmas Around Bridgewater

If you’re traveling to Smith Mountain Lake with your family, you won’t want to miss Christmas Around Bridgewater. The Jolly Elf himself will be visiting Bridgewater Plaza on December 2, 9, and 16 from noon until 4:00 p.m. Bridgewater Plaza is a waterfront shopping center that features plenty of great restaurants, stores, and events. Keep an eye on their website to see if there are any great sales or gatherings during your trip.

Hickory Hill Holidays

One of the best wineries near Smith Mountain Lake will be hosting its annual Hickory Hill Holidays event! Hickory Hill Winery has been in operation since the early 1980s when Roger and Judy Farrow transformed their passion for grape-growing and wine-making into their profession. A visit to this vineyard is a must for any wine-lover. During the Hickory Hill Holidays event, you’ll enter their 1923 farmhouse tasting room and enjoy a wine tasting and mulled cider. This is a great chance to purchase a gift for your loved ones. Either browse the gift shop or work with the staff to customize a gift with wine and accessories in two or three-bottle boxes.

Dickens of a Christmas

One of the most-anticipated events near Smith Mountain Lake is the Dickens of a Christmas! Three free, family-friendly holiday events will take place in downtown Roanoke. Enjoy classic holiday Christmas treats like roasted chestnuts and cider. The first day of Dickens of a Christmas is on December 1 and features the City of Roanoke Christmas Tree Lighting. The second day of Dickens of a Christmas is December 8 and features the Dickens Winter Carnival. The final day of the Dickens of a Christmas festival is December 15 and features the Coca-Cola Snow Zone and RVSPCA Pet Costume Contest.
